About Us

I attended Michigan State University in Construction Management, 1984-1988. After graduation, I started working in both commercial and residential construction. I quickly realized that my true passion was in building residential custom homes.

After 10 years working for a custom home builder, I decided to start my own company and created the James Edward Builders Team.

Twenty-three years later, my team and I have been dedicated to serving the Lansing area as their local Custom Home Builder. We continue to work hard building custom homes throughout the local communities while maintaining our well-known name and positive reputation across the Lansing area.

I, Tom James Gottschalk, owner of James Edward Builders, and my team personally guide our clients through the entire process of design, land acquisition, closing and move in day! We continuously communicate throughout the construction process.

I am proud to say we receive positive client feedback on our well-built product, our professionalism, and how well our structured selection process is. We have many clients who come back to build with us again and in a few cases a 3rd time!
